April 28, 2021.Ned Gerard / Hearst Connecticut Media School districts in greater Bridgeport and the Naugatuck Valley are preparing for the upcoming expansion of COVID-19 vaccine eligibility for 12- to 15 year-olds. Similar to the plan laid out for those aged 16 and older in public schools across the state, many districts are either planning to offer vaccine clinics or are in talks about whether a youth-only clinic makes sense. In all cases, parents would have to sign consent forms for their child to be vaccinated and/or accompany their child. ....
May 11, 2021 Ursula Diers NAUGATUCK – Mrs. Ursula Diers, 80, of Naugatuck, died Sunday, May 9, 2021, at Livewell Nursing Home in Plantsville after an extensive struggle with Alzheimer’s. She was the loving wife of Ralph Diers, her husband of 57 years. Ursula was born in Mannheim, Germany, July 21, 1940, daughter of the late William and Adelheid Achtstatter. She worked as a meat wrapper at Waldbaums in New York before her retirement. She enjoyed bowling, playing golf, knitting, cooking, being in the kitchen and traveling with her husband. She especially loved playtime with the grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Ursula leaves daughters Yvette Picariello of Bethel and Venessa Napoli of Naugatuck; five grandchildren; and eight nieces and nephews. ....
May 9, 2021 Robert F. Rimkoski NAUGATUCK – Robert F. Rimkoski (Bob), 78, of Naugatuck, beloved husband of the late Barbara (Schwartz) Rimkoski, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, at Waterbury Hospital on Friday, May 7, 2021. Robert was born in Waterbury Dec. 8, 1942, son of the late Felix and Genevieve (Jankowski) Rimkoski. He graduated from Naugatuck High School, class of 1961. Robert was a veteran of the United States Army and the National Guard. He retired from Northeast Utilities where he had worked as a lineman for more than 34 years. He was a lifelong resident of Naugatuck and attended St. Hedwig Church. Robert was a devoted family man and loved spending time with his relatives and friends. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and looking for bargains at tag sales. ....
