The University of North Georgia women s basketball team has been voted to finish fifth out of the 14 league teams in the annual Peach Belt Conference preseason coaches poll announced on Thursday from the league office. The Nighthawks received 122 points including one first place vote as seven different teams were voted to finish atop the league standings. br br Columbus State received a total of five out of a possible 13 first place votes to finish with 146 points as the Cougars are the league s preseason favorite. Not far behind was Georgia College in second place with 139 points and Clayton State finished third with 132 points. Armstrong was fourth in the voting with 124 points, followed by North Georgia and USC Aiken in fifth and sixth. Lander, Young Harris, Georgia Regents, Flagler, UNC Pembroke, Francis Marion, Georgia Southwestern, and Montevallo rounded out the rest of the voting. br ....
