HS2 plan to police contractors fails to impress politicians
MPs, council leaders and local politicians are unconvinced by HS2 Ltd’s plans to ensure its contractors stick to construction assurances made by the project promoter.
The roles have been created to tackle complaints made against HS2 contractors working on the first phase of the line in relation to “failing to stick to approved HGV routes […] introducing last minute traffic diversions […] damaging local roads and properties […] and using temporary land take for longer than originally set out”.
Thurston stressed that these senior figures will be given the authority to react to construction complaints in “real time” and “with teeth”. ....
