SC sets aside PST order, restores penalty of compulsory retirement from service

The Supreme Court had voided the order of the Punjab Service Tribunal (PST) and allowed the appeal filed by the Punjab government against Khadim Hussain Abbasi an employee of Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department, Lahore and restored the penalty of compulsory retirement from service imposed upon the Respondent (Khadim) by the departmental authorities on March 09, 2017.
A two-member SC bench comprising Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Ijaz Ul Ahsan had reserved the decision on an appeal filed by the Special Secretary, Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department, Lahore against the judgment of Punjab Service Tribunal at Bahawalpur passed on September 18, 2020. Flouting elected members' orders: Mayor to issue notices to MCL officials under Peeda Act - Newspaper


LAHORE: The district assembly on Thursday decided to issue show-cause notices to various officials of the Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL) under the Punjab Employees Efficiency and Discipline and Accountability (Peeda) Act for not obeying the lawful orders of the elected local bodies’ representatives, whose offices were restored by the Supreme Court of Pakistan on March 25 this year.
The assembly members, in a session convened by the speaker, Deputy Mayor, Nazir Ahmad Khan Swati, in the presence of the leader of the house, Lahore Mayor retired Col Mubashir Javed, also unanimously decided to approach the Punjab chief secretary and the local government department secretary, asking them to issue show-cause notices to the officers of the department posted in the MCL as municipal officers (MOs) and the chief corporation officer, under the Peeda Act. ....

SAMAA - Covid-19: Punjab teachers refusing to get vaccinated to be fined

The Punjab government has instructed teachers across the province to get vaccinated by June 5. According to a notification issued by the Punjab School Education Department, the decision was announced on the instructions of the National Command and Operation Centre. All teaching and non-teaching staff members will have to submit their vaccination cards/certificates to their institutions. Those who fail to do so will be punished under the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline, and Accountability Act 2006. MULTAN: Six more coronavirus patients died at Nishtar Hospital during the last 24 hours. Haji Ahmad Bux, 74, Muhammad Rafique, 75, Shaheena Bibi, 38, Allah Ditta, 77, and Nazeera Bibi, 60 of al of Multan and Shabir Hussain, 65, of Khanewal, had tested positive for coronavirus and were admitted to the hospital where they died during the treatment.
According to the statistics, 241 coronavirus suspected and confirmed patients are getting treatment at the hospital. In Multan division, 62 people had tested positive for coronavirus out of 1,685 people and 11,865 people were awaiting the reports.
In Multan district some 49 people had tested positive for the virus out of 1,579 people and 8,303 people are awaiting reports. In Khanewal district out of 70 people six had tested positive for the virus. In Lodhran district five people had tested positive for the virus out of 34 and reports of 1,817 people were being a ....
