Schools in Punjab will reopen tomorrow only for students from Class 5 to 12, the state government said today in a statement. The schools can work from 10 am to 3 pm, Punjab Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla said in the statement.
Mr Singla said the decision comes after persistent demand by parents to reopen all schools - government, semi-government and private ones. ....

1,313 students appear in Punjab State Talent hunt competition

A large number of students from government schools appeared for Punjab State Talent hunt competition initiated by Punjab Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla and Education Secretary Krishan Kumar to encourage students studying in government schools in the state for competitive examinations.
 The officials claimed that 82.5 per cent students appeared in competitions today.
 District Education Officer (Sec) Amritsar Satinderbir Singh expressed satisfaction over the peaceful examination after visiting various examination centers set up in District Amritsar for the examination conducted by State Education Research and Training Council Punjab. A total of 759 candidates were selected for Class VIII in District Amritsar out of which 624 students appeared for the examination which is 82.21 per cent of the total number. While 135 students were absent. Similarly 830 students were selected for the examination conducted for Class X students out of which 689 ....

Sangrur (Punjab) [India], December 24 (ANI): Expressing solidarity with the Punjab farmers who are protesting against three agriculture laws, Punjab Education MinisterVijay Inder Singla sat on one-day hunger-strike on Wednesday in Sangrur.
Around 200 arhtiyas from Punjab also accompanied Singla in the hunger strike.
Singla said the agitation started by farmers has become a genuine mass movement and people were coming on their own to support it.
Arhitiyas and farmers in Punjab share a strong bonding. Farmer unions have also given a call for hunger strike and we are offering our support, Singla told reporters. ....
