THIS year, the Punjab government has introduced a new kind of assessment, known as school-based assessment (SBA), announcing that no student will be promoted without passing the exam.
For this purpose, a special website has been designed and an item bank is provided by the Punjab Examination Commission (PEC) to all public schools.
The schools have been asked to generate papers for Grade I to VIII from this website by using log-in IDs given to them by the PEC information technology team.
This surely is an appreciable step taken by the government. Things seem perfect till here, right?
But the problem is that somehow papers of all subjects have reached bookshops having photocopiers, and their owners are now minting money by selling these question papers to students. ....

Summer vacations for students across Punjab will begin on July 1.
According to a notification issued by the Punjab Examination Commission, final exams of classes one to eight will begin on June 7 and continue till June 25. Students will be given their report cards on June 30.
“Oral exams will be conducted for students of classes one and two,” the directives stated. “Written exams will be conducted for classes three to eight.” ....

The Punjab Examination Commission (PEC) has announced that summer vacations for students across Punjab will begin on July 1.
A notification in this regard was issued on Wednesday, according to which the annual exams for classes one to eight will stretch from June 7 to June 25. The results will start coming from June 30, while summer vacations will start on July 1.

Lahore: The Punjab Examination Commission announced the exam schedule for classes 1 to 8 for 13 districts in the province.
According to the details, the notification issued by the PEC reviewed the schedule of the conduct of School-Based Assessment (SBA) following the closure of schools after the National Command and Operation Centre’s (NCOC) decision.
The exams for grade I to VIII will begin from June 7 and continue until June 25 whereas schools will start issuing report cards from June 30. More than 5 million students of classes one to eighth will sit the exams.
Summer vacations are expected to start from July 1st. ....

Physical classes for grades nine to 12 are set to resume in over a dozen cities of Punjab, including Lahore, Rawalpindi and Faisalabad from April 19 (Monday).
Taking to Twitter, Education Minister Murad Raas announced that in-person classes for grades 9, 10, 11 and 12 will start at all public and private schools in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Sheikhupura, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Multan, Toba Tek Singh, Sargodha, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, and Dera Ghazi Khan on April 19.
