Senior citizen pleads not guilty to animal cruelty charge

BUTTERWORTH: A 71-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to a charge of animal cruelty at the Sessions Court here.
Ng Ah Leak claimed trial to a charge of injuring a female dog in October last year.
The charge, read out in Mandarin, stated that Ng was accused of unreasonably injuring a white bitch in the eye using an eight-foot long bamboo pole, inflicting pain and suffering.
Ng allegedly committed the offence in a drain behind his house in Taman Tanjung Indah, Raja Uda in Seberang Prai, Butterworth at around 10.30pm on Oct 24. ....

Businessman fined RM8,000 for sending obscene photos to woman


BUTTERWORTH (Bernama): A businessman was fined RM8,000 by the Sessions Court here Wednesday (Feb 24) after he pleaded guilty to five counts of sending obscene photos to a 46-year-old woman four years ago.
The accused, Chang Yoon Siong, 31, from Puchong, pleaded guilty to all five charges when they were read to him in Mandarin by the court interpreter.
Judge Noor Aini Yusof fined Chang RM1,600 for each of the charges in default one month’s jail, while the mobile phone (used in committing the offence) would be forfeited and surrendered to the government after the case proper, including appeal, if any. ....
