There was some good news at the Butler County Commission this week when the county began a review of capital improvement requests for the 2021 budget year the combination of paying off a building debt and anticipated increased payments from a pipeline to the county means there s more money available.
When the CIP requests were presented, there was a change from years past. The initial listings for district court were not filtered meaning all requests were placed in front of the commission.
We want to wait until the strategic retreat later those month to whittle down based on commission goals and priorities, said Ryan Adkison, Assistant County Administrator/Finance Director I think all the requests are reasonable, but they are not filtered based on finances. County nearly doubling weight limited bridges

There s changes coming to emergency routes in Butler County the result of 64 new weight limits to be posted on the county bridges.
Of those, 49 will be weight restricted for emergency vehicles only, ten will be restricted to truck traffic and emergency vehicles and five restricted to truck traffic only.
Butler County inspects each bridge about every two years.
If a bridge is not able to meet thresholds, the bridge must be signed with weight limits.
This year, out of the 433 bridges in Butler County 93 were evaluated. Of those, 29 do not require a new weight limit posting. There are 15 not posted that are now require a sign. ....

BUTLER COUNTY, Ala. (WSFA) - On Thursday, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for a building to become the new home of the Butler County Sheriffâs Office.
The sheriffâs office has been housed in the Butler County Courthouse since the buildingâs construction in 1903.
Sheriff Danny Bond said the new building was one of his goals entering office that he hadnât expected to fulfill so soon.
He added that the new location, placed right across from the county jail, offers more convenience. ....
