East Bridgewater mother is a TikTok cake star
Abby Burke quit her full-time finance job in November to pursue her passion for baking cakes. Now, her TikTok account CakeArtByAbby has 3.3 million likes and 350,000 followers. “I feel more accomplished now that I run my own cake business than I did working 9-5 in an office,” said Burke, 29, of East Bridgewater.  Burke started baking a few months before the quarantine began as a hobby, which quickly became a business due to the rising popularity of the social media app TikTok.  She created the account CakeArtByAbby in January 2020 and her first video received 169,000 views, and the most-watched video has 16.4 million views. ....

Bridgewater firefighters hosting fundraiser for family battling cancer


Last year, a member of the Bridgewater firefighters union was suffering from stage 4 cancer, which prompted the union to seek fundraising through the Firefighters Local 2611 ice hockey team.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the efforts were halted, but now with another prominent case of cancer in the community   this time two in the same household with Richie and Lindsey McQuade Bridgewater Firefighters Local 2611 said it is hoping to do its part to help out.
We are excited about it, Lindsey McQuade said about the fundraiser. It s been crazy the support we ve been getting. It s been overwhelming.
The McQuade family has only been living in Bridgewater for a year, but said they have felt supported by the community during this trying time. ....

Bridgewater's Prisco's Market raising money for family with cancer

BRIDGEWATER  When Prisco s Market and Deli owner Steve Prisco learned about a local couple both undergoing cancer treatment, he said he wanted to help.
Lindsey and Richie McQuade, who live less than a mile from the market, have three young children. She has stage three Hodgkin s lymphoma and he has stage four bowel cancer. 
Prisco hopes to raise $2,500 for the McQuades by raffling off a Red Sox-themed, drivable child s car. Tickets to enter the raffle are $5 each. 
I feel called to help, he said. 
Prisco and his wife Nancy first met Richie McQuade after his family moved to Bridgewater in 2019. The McQuades  house is less than a half-mile away, and Prisco said Richie McQuade was happy to find the ice cream stand and market and planned to take his kids there. ....

Tim Everhart, McQuades cancer: 5 top Brockton-area stories last week


Brockton native Tim Everhart appears on ‘Jeopardy!’ 
The Brockton native appeared on “Jeopardy!” on Wednesday evening, which was hosted by executive producer Mike Richards, as the show searches for a new host following the death of Alex Trebek. To start the show, Everhart was introduced as, “An attorney originally from Brockton, Massachusetts.” Everhart is currently from Glendale, California, and is a senior associate attorney for Albert & Mackenzie, a limited liability partnership. Everhart, in a phone interview from California on Thursday, said he chose to go with “originally from Brockton” even though he only lived in the city through elementary school. “I grew up in Brockton and lived there until middle school age,” he said. “I consider myself from there. I still follow all the Boston sports teams.” ....
