Ron and Diane Monroe started Mission Six Service Dogs for Veterans in 2018.
“We’ve placed six dogs in total,” said Ron. “We look for six to 18 month old dogs, even a two year old dog, that needs a home and needs to be placed. We bring them in to our home, my wife and I make great dogs out of them.”
Ron said it depends on the personality of the dog, but it can take six months of training to learn skills catered toward the disability of a veteran.
“We are focused on PTSD and TBI (traumatic brain injury),” said Ron. “Those are some invisible disabilities that are really prominent these days coming out of the desert.” ....
