San Diego Home Cooking Chain Manager Pleads Guilty to Employment Tax Fraud

An April 2 sentencing date is scheduled for the manager of the San Diego Home Cooking restaurant chain, who pleaded guilty to a federal employment tax fraud charge for failing to make tax payments over a period of several years.
Aleksandar Sreckovic admitted Wednesday in San Diego federal court that he didn t file employment tax returns or pay employment taxes for the chain from the last quarter of 2014 through 2017, according to the Department of Justice, which said the tax loss associated with the fraud totaled more than $1.5 million.
The restaurant group included more than 110 employees and five restaurants in the county: Cafe 56 & Bar and Mission Valley Cafe & Bar in San Diego, Lake Murray Cafe in La Mesa, Lakeside Cafe in Lakeside, and Centre City Cafe in Escondido. ....

San Diego Home Cooking manager pleads guilty to tax fraud, agrees to pay IRS $2.2 million

SAN DIEGO
The former manager of the San Diego Home Cooking diner chain pleaded guilty Wednesday in federal court to tax fraud and agreed to pay the IRS more than $2.2 million in restitution, according to his plea agreement.
Aleksandar Sreckovic admitted that in November 2014, he directed an outside payroll company to stop making employment-tax payments to the IRS on behalf of the company’s roughly 110 employees a scheme that continued through 2017 and defrauded the IRS of more than $1.5 million.
Sreckovic admitted to using the money to pay the company’s creditors and for personal expenses. His crime carries a potential prison sentence of up to five years, and up to one year of supervised release. According to his plea agreement, Sreckovic will pay the IRS about $2.23 million in restitution. ....
