NEW DELHI: India on Tuesday summoned the British high commissioner and conveyed strong opposition to the unwarranted and tendentious debate on the farmer protests by a section of UK parliamentarians in the House of Commons.
Foreign secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla told the UK high commissioner to India that such a discussion represented a gross interference in the politics of another democratic country.
He advised that British MPs should refrain from practising vote bank politics by misrepresenting events, especially in relation to another fellow democracy, the government said in a statement. ....

NEW DELHI: The farmers agitation against the three central farm laws will enter its hundredth day on Saturday with union leaders asserting that their movement is far from over and they are going strong .
The marathon movement has sent out a message of unity, made farmers visible once again and brought them back on the political landscape of the country, they said on Friday.
Rakesh Tikait of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) said they are prepared to continue the protest for as long as it is required.
We are completely prepared. Unless and until the government listens to us and meets our demands, we will not move from here, Tikait, who is among the leaders at the forefront of the movement, told PTI. ....

Opposition spreading false propaganda about farm laws: FM Sitharaman | India News


CHENNAI: Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday accused the opposition parties of spreading false propaganda about the contentious farm laws and said they were protesting only to benefit middlemen.
Addressing the traders cell of Tamil Nadu BJP here, she also said those who were causing hindrance to the progress of the growth of Tamil Nadu were now criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi s government at the Centre.
How can one answer to a false propaganda that through the farmer s law a farmer could lose his land? , she asked, referring to the protests demanding repeal of the laws.
She said that they were opposing the laws only to benefit middle men. ....
