Enforcement of the province’s new COVID-19 restrictions at City of Edmonton outdoor recreation amenities will be based on the honour system, the city said Thursday in announcing these locations will remain open.
City-run golf courses, basketball courts and all other drop-in outdoor amenities will remain accessible to the public during the newest round of restrictions set to come into effect Sunday night, city manager Andre Corbould told council’s emergency advisory committee Thursday. Under the new orders, outdoor sport activities are prohibited except if limited to one household or with two close contacts for those who live alone.

Edmonton’s Valley Line should be ready to run later this year
When complete, the Valley Line will connect downtown Edmonton to Mill Woods.
Edmonton’s Valley Line Southeast LRT line is expected to open in late 2021.
The 13-km route connects downtown Edmonton to Mill Woods, and the city’s deputy city manager of infrastructure, Adam Laughlin, confirmed the opening on May 4 while announcing Edmonton’s $1 billion construction plan for this year.
The $1.8 billion first phase of the project has been marred by delays and was supposed to open back in December. Joint venture TransEd will have to perform commissioning and testing before the line officially opens to the public.

The delayed 13-kilometre Valley Line Southeast LRT from Downtown to Mill Woods is tracking toward a “late 2021” opening.
Adam Laughlin, the city’s deputy city manager of infrastructure, provided an update on the timeline Tuesday while unveiling the city’s $1-billion  construction plan for this year.

Initially expected to open last December, Laughlin said the $1.8-billion first phase of the Valley Line is nearing the end of construction and will then need to go through rigorous commissioning and testing before it opens to residents. The line is being constructed by TransEd, a consortium of companies, who will also operate it.

City of Edmonton receives failing grade for fiscal transparency in C.D. Howe Institute study

Edmonton scored a failing grade from the C.D. Howe Institute for fiscal accountability and transparency in its most recent budgets and financial statements.
In the research organization’s annual report card grading the financial presentations of 31 major municipalities across Canada, Edmonton was one of only two cities to receive an “F” grade. Final scores were based on a series of criteria related to the presentation of budgets and year-end financial statements, including date of approvals, date of release and how far into the documents results are presented.

Alberta reported 811 new cases of COVID-19 and 12 additional deaths from the disease on Sunday, according to the latest update posted to the province's website. 
This brings the total number of deaths from COVID-19 to 1,284. 
There are 794 people in the hospital due to the disease, 128 of whom are in intensive care. The province performed 12,302 tests on Friday. 
There are 
14,116 active cases of COVID-19 in Alberta, down by 321 from Saturday.
