HHS provides $262,180 to businesses in Mullins under CARES ACT


Through the fourth quarter of 2020, businesses in Mullins received $262,180 in health-related relief from the CARES act issued by the Department of Health and Human Services.
According to numbers reported through the fourth quarter of 2020, businesses in South Carolina received $1.2 billion in health-related relief from the CARES act issued by the Department of Health and Human Services. The largest recipient of funding in the state was Prisma Health-Upstate with a total of $131 million. The average loan size in the city was $21,848 while the state s average loan amount was $258,718.
Of the money distributed, $30 billion went out automatically to health providers based on previous year medicare payments. If the money wasn t returned within 90 days the provider is then automatically entered into the repayment terms that are issued by HHS. With the money going out automatically and the rules constantly changing, some of the businesses that received the money weren t eligible ....

Revised COVID enforcement before Seneca County Supervisors


WATERLOO — In hopes of encouraging better compliance, the Seneca County Board of Supervisors Tuesday will consider amending COVID policies that were adopted in August.
The amended COVID Response Protocol and Sanction Process and Response Organization policies will first be considered by the board’s
Public Health Services Committee. If changes are approved there, they will go to the full board at a special meeting after the committee meetings.
The county formed a special committee of board members, staff and business leaders to develop response protocols and enforcement provisions regarding COVID-19 protection steps that strive to balance personal rights and freedoms with public health and minimizing the spread of the virus. ....
