New Delhi: The Wife of Journalist Siddique Kappan, Raihanath Kappan has sent a notice of contempt (through Advocate Wills Mathews) to the Uttar Pradesh Government Alleging Non-Compliance of Supreme Court’s Order dated April 28 and also, for submitting wrong/misleading information before the SC regarding his medical status.
Significantly, the Supreme Court had, on April 28 directed that Kerala journalist Siddique Kappan be shifted from Mathura Jail in Uttar Pradesh to a government hospital in Delhi for medical treatment. ....

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Sunday requested his Uttar Pradesh counterpart to intervene and ensure that Journalist Siddique Kappan, presently in custody under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA ) in the northern state, be provided expert health care.
In a letter to Yogi Adityanath, Pinarayi Vijayan said the Kerala Union of Working Journalists and some prominent media persons had brought to his attention that Siddique Kappan, who hailed from the southern state, suffered from heart ailments and had tested positive for COVID-19, due to which he was facing health issues. ....

Journalist Siddique Kappan s wife, Raihanth Kappan, has written a letter to the Chief Justice of India NV Ramana seeking his immediate intervention to release Kappan from Mathura Medical College as his life is in extreme danger , according to livelaw.in.
In the letter, Mrs Kappan has alleged that for the past four days, Mr Kappan, who has tested positive for Covid-19, has been tied to a hospital bed and is not being able to take food or use the toilet.
The letter further adds that if no urgent action is taken, it might result in the journalist s death. Mrs Kappan has thus urged the CJI to pass an order releasing Kappan from Mathura Medical College back to Mathura Jail. ....
