KURNOOL: An irate mob of villagers threw chili powder in the eyes of Jonnagiri sub-inspector Suresh for his indifference in taking action against a youth who had eloped with a girl. The incident occurred at Pagidirayi village in Tuggali mandal of Kurnool district late Monday evening.
The villagers in retaliation ransacked and damaged houses belonging to SC community a member of the community had eloped with a girl from the BC commnity. About 500 BC families live in Pagidirayi village and most of them are into sub-contract works with Great Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).

KURNOOL: Water shortage seems to be on the horizon as storage levels in major reservoirs of Andhra Pradesh have fallen drastically.
Level of Srisailam reservoir has touched 808 ft against full reservoir level of 885 ft. Water availability is just 33.59 TMC, only 15 percent of total storage capacity. Nagarjunasagar, downstream of Srisailam, has storage of just 191.05 TMC against 312 TMC capacity. Priyadarshini Jurala and Tungabhadra each have mere 3.98 TMC of water.

Officials said the government has given job cards to 9 lakh wage-seekers in the district but only 2.60 lakh are utilising them regularly. — PTI
KURNOOL: Amid the gram panchayat elections, a majority of villages in Adoni and Kurnool divisions are seeing people migrating to the cities. Though poll candidates are requesting them to stay on till the completion of the polls, the workers are not showing any interest.
At least 15,000 families from the district have left to Guntur, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai and other cities. Some of the aspirants even offered money and other benefits to the workers to keep them back but in vain.

KURNOOL: YSRCP MLAs throughout the state are gearing up for a "never-before-ever-after" celebrations to mark the 49th birthday of their leader and Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday.
YSRCP central office has directed all its MLAs to organise blood donation camps in their respective constituencies across the state. Attempts are also being made to gain entry into the Guinness Book of World Records by organising record-breaking blood donation camps. Party leaders feel this could well be possible with Covid-19 receding in the state and party cadre, apart from Jagan fans, being enthusiastic about donating blood at all mandal headquarters in the state.
