Ice shanties are a part of the Vermont landscape this time of year, with tiny shacks that protect ice fishers from the elements dotting ponds and lakes each winter.
But are they art? A Vermont museum thinks so.
The Brattleboro Museum & Art Center this weekend begins the inaugural “Artful Ice Shanties Design-Build Competition.” In a news release, the museum calls the event “an outdoor celebration of the delightful possibilities of winter.” ....
