Family Day weekend kicks off with the start of High on Ice Winter Fest

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Annual High on Ice Winter Fest starts Friday!
The annual event, featuring drive-thru ice sculptures, free ice-skating, and swimming, kicks off at 4 pm Friday, February 12th.
Other activities will be Cross Country Skiing, Bingo, contests and crafts, and a business passport program.
The 100th Street access to the North Peace Leisure Pool will remain closed until Tuesday, February 16th.
Access to the sculpture drive-thru and the pool parking lot will be available via 96th Avenue.
Regarding the sculpture drive-thru, due to an overhead structure, the maximum vehicle height is 8.5 feet. Any large trucks or commercial vehicles should not be brought to the drive-thru. ....

LAVA HOT SPRINGS, Idaho (KIFI) - Traditionally, Lava Hot Springs is known for bringing the heat, but on this specific occasion, the town turned into a chill zone.
The Fire & Ice Winterfest is held each year in the town over the first full weekend of February. The event included a Children s Water Carnival, a Torchlight Parade, and the infamous Polar Float Parade on the Portneuf River.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Fort St. John Mayor Lori Ackerman is gearing up to join the community during the High On Ice Winter Fest activities.
Ackerman says her family is getting into the spirit, and is working on an ice sculpture of their own.
“At home, we have done some research and we are going to attempt to construct something in our front lawn. We don’t have the big chunks of ice that we would normally get for carving, so Andy (Ackerman) and I have been out there creating our own ice.” ....

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Christmas tree drop-off is still happening until Friday, January 15th.
Anyone wishing to drop-off their tree can do so at the green space between Parkour Park and the North Peace Museum.
All decorations, tinsel, and plastic bags are to be removed beforehand. Any trees dropped off will be used in the upcoming High on Ice Winter Fest next month.
For Dawson Creek residents, due to the current pandemic, the non-profit group that usually does the Christmas tree pick-up is unable to. Instead, residents can drop their trees off at the local landfill or transfer station. ....
