Ice accumulation of a quarter to a half inch is possible in the warning areas. If this occurs, significant power outages, downed trees, and near-impossible travel is expected. A First Alert for travel conditions to remain horrible tonight and tomorrow morning as temperatures drop well into the teens. It may take until Wednesday in some places to rise above freezing. ....
In South Whitehall Township, there was ponding on roads in parking lots due to the steady rain. PennDOT crews have been salting roads all over the Lehigh Valley and say they ll continue to do so until the rain moves out. Around 4 a.m., PennDOT lifted vehicle restrictions on the following roadways: - Interstate 78 in Berks, Lehigh and Northampton counties; - Interstate 176 in Berks County; - US 22 in Lehigh and Northampton counties; and - PA 33 in Monroe and Northampton counties.
