Amazon to create hundreds of jobs in Fayetteville; Johnston County next?

FAYETTEVILLE – Amazon continues to grow its footprint in North Carolina, with news breaking Thursday that the ecommerce giant plans to build a new delivery station in Fayetteville that it says will create hundreds of jobs. And more jobs could be coming, this time in Johnston County.

Amazon plans to hire about 200 people at the new location, with pay starting at about $15 an hour. They hope to start hiring and having its operation up and running by the early part of 2022.
Delivery stations such as one Amazon put in Cary are designed to expedite local deliveries.
The Fayetteville center is set to open in 2022, according to a report in the Fayetteville Observer. ....

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – An Amazon delivery station is coming to Fayetteville and with it comes hundreds of jobs, according to the Fayetteville Cumberland County Economic Development Corporation.
The jobs will pay a starting wage of $15 per hour and offer benefits on the first day of employment.
“We are excited to welcome a Fortune 100 company like Amazon to our community,” said Mitch Colvin, Fayetteville’s mayor. “This substantial investment exemplifies our community’s resurgence as our economy continues to recover from the effects of COVID-19. We are open for business and poised for growth.” ....

Amazon plans to launch a delivery station in Fayetteville next year, creating hundreds of jobs and enhancing the company’s ability to serve Cumberland County and the surrounding area, local and company officials said Thursday.
The facility, which will be located at 1005 Dunn Road, is expected to enhance Amazon’s last-mile delivery capabilities and speed up deliveries for customers in the region, according to a statement released by the Fayetteville Cumberland County Economic Development Corporation. The company plans to transport packages to delivery stations from Amazon fulfillment and sortation centers, and then load them into vehicles for delivery to customers, it said. ....

First flight takes off on new Fayetteville to Dallas-Fort Worth route
The first flight from Fayetteville to Dallas Fort Worth took off Friday morning, directly connecting Fayetteville to one of the country s biggest airports.
Forty-two passengers, including Mayor Pro Tem Kathy Jensen, were aboard the inaugural American Airlines flight to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, which took off from Fayetteville Regional Airport at 7:56 a.m.
With the new daily connection to DFW, Fayetteville now offers nearly 300 one-stop destinations, said Mark Lynch, chairperson of the Fayetteville Regional Airport Commission.
The new flight will benefit the Fayetteville community in tremendous ways, Lynch said. ....
