The Ogun State Police Command has rescued 22 underage girls from Akwa Ibom State, lured into prostitution.
The girls said to be between ages 10 and 14 years were reportedly used as sex workers at a hotel located in the Itele-Ota area of the state.
In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Police in an operation coordinated by the Area Commander Ota, Muhideen Obe, were said to have stormed the hotel following an intelligence-gathering received from members of the public.

Men of Ogun State Police Command, on Friday, rescued 22 teenage girls between 10 and 14 years that were reportedly lured from Akwa Ibom State to Ogun state for prostitution.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed this on Saturday in a statement.
Oyeyemi said the command got credible information that minors were being recruited as sex workers.
He said the police in an operation, coordinated by the Area Commander Ota, ACP Muhideen Obe, stormed a hotel about 8 pm on Friday and rescued 22 teenagers.
The PPRO said the victims lamented that they were lured from their respective villages in Akwa Ibom State to come to Ogun State, with the promise to employ them as sales girls in restaurants and supermarkets. ....

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 50-year-old prophet, Tayo Shobowale, for allegedly raping a 17-year-old church member during a prayer session in the church in the Oke Igbala, Ifo area of the state.
SaharaReporters learnt that the police arrested Prophet Shobowale in charge of the Cherubim and Seraphim church in Oke Igbala, Ifo, following a report lodged by the victim’s family.
According to the police, the family reported that sometime in March 2021, the prophet invited the teenager to the church for prayer, and there, the prophet took advantage of the du being alone for a prayer session to forcefully have carnal knowledge of her. ....
