Bryce Houlton, Guadalupe County Assistant Emergency Management Coordinator, provided a snapshot of the latest available data from the Texas Department of State Health Services. Houlton’s report looked at the latest data on case counts, hospitilizations and deaths here in Guadalupe County. “We are still seven to nine days, on average, behind data-wise from the Department of State Health Services,” said Houlton. “Currently in the city of New Braunfels, we have four active cases, two in Cibolo, 12 in Seguin, zero in Schertz, zero in Marion, one in Selma and 18 in the unincorporated areas ....

Guadalupe County commissioners are asking fireworks vendors and users to avoid the use of certain pyrotechnics during the upcoming holiday season due to dry conditions. While some precipitation fell in recent days, things have been fairly dry around the county, but not dry enough for commissioners to place a ban on flying fireworks with âsticks and fins.â âWe do not meet the threshold to ban aerial fireworks, being fire sticks and fins,â Bryce Houlton, the countyâs assistant fire marshal, told the court Thursday morning at a specially-called meeting. Lack of significant rainfall had the commissioners court members eyeing a plan to limit the sale and use of flying fireworks in order to limit grass fires and other possible destructive mishaps related to the pyrotechnics.
