New charity book shop set to open in Burnham-On-Sea town centre
A new charity book shop is set to open in Burnham-On-Sea town centre on July 19th.
Burnham-On-Sea Rotary Club has announced that it will be running a book store over the summer months, raising money for good causes.
“We are planning to open our Rotary Bookshop in Burnham Shopping Centre in the High Street at 10am,” Rotary spokesman George Moon told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
The club’s popular charity book shops, which are run by the club’s volunteers, have been held in the town centre for many summers, raising thousands of pounds for charity. ....

Burnham-on-Sea town centre shops hit by thefts | Burnham and Highbridge Weekly News

The thieves struck last Friday, April 16, and police have appealed for information.
The first incident occurred at Burnham Shopping Centre, in the High Street, with a Cancer Research collection box full of coins being stolen.
The theft is believed to have happened shortly before 9.30am on Friday morning, with the suspect described by police as being male, white, about 5ft 10ins and of an average build, and wearing a grey or green hooded top, blue jeans and black trainers.
Anyone with information which could assist the police is asked to contact the police via its website or by calling 101, quoting reference number 5221081162. ....

Cancer Research charity box stolen and till money taken in Burnham shop thefts
Police have appealed for information following the two thefts on Friday (April 16th).
In the first incident, at Burnham Shopping Centre in the town’s High Street, a Cancer Research collection box full of coins was stolen.
A Police spokesman confirmed: “We were contacted on Friday 16th April by a shop owner about a charity box being stolen.
The incident is believed to have occurred shortly before 9.30am at the store in Burnham-On-Sea’s High Street.”

Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge shops and businesses experienced a ‘busy, hectic’ re-opening day on Monday (April 12th) as lockdown restrictions eased and shoppers returned.
Burnham town centre saw queues of shoppers outside several shops during the morning as they opened for the first time since early January.
Burnham-On-Sea.com spoke to shoppers and shop owners to get their feedback on the long-awaited re-opening day.
Helen Adams at Crusty Cob bakery in Burnham High Street told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was a busy day – it was so nice to see the town centre bustling with shoppers again. Everyone seemed to be a lot happier and the atmosphere was really positive.” ....
