Alliant announces jump in renewable energy generation

More than 26.5% of electricity used by Alliant Energy’s Iowa customers in 2019 was generated by renewable resources, the company announced today. That is up from 9.9% in 2018, according to a news release. Company officials said that percentage is expected to continue growing with wind farms that came online this year and the addition of new solar farms that will generate up to 400 megawatts of clean energy by the end of 2023. The information was verified by the Iowa Utilities Board, Alliant officials said in the release. “We continue to focus on providing customers with affordable, reliable and sustainable energy,” Terry Kouba, president of Alliant Energy’s Iowa energy company, said in the release. “With more than double-digit growth in renewable generation, this achievement shows we are moving in the right direction.” In its Iowa Clean Energy ....
