L.L. Bean plans to leave Burlington for Finney Crossing in Williston

L.L. Bean will leave downtown Burlington, where it anchored what s left of the former Burlington Town Center mall, to move to Williston, according to a July 23 post on the Finney Crossing Facebook page.
The new L.L. Bean store will be located between Healthy Living and Union Bank in the mixed use development and is expected to open next summer, according to the Finney Crossing post.
CityPlace developer Don Sinex confirmed the move in an email on Tuesday morning, although Sinex said he has yet to receive any formal notice from L.L. Bean that they are moving. ....

CityPlace Burlington developers have agreed to pay the Vermont Prevailing Wage in an effort to get the City Council to sign off on an agreement that would end a lawsuit alleging breach of contract.
The city sued last September, claiming the developers were trying to get out of commitments made in 2017, including reconnecting St. Paul and Pine streets to Cherry Street. The lawsuit has stalled the $175 million project.
The City Council voted to table the settlement agreement that would end the lawsuit last week after labor unions insisted CityPlace use union workers on the job. ....

City Center development offers affordable housing

New development planned in South Burlingtonâs City Center will bring more affordable housing, in part because of the coronavirus pandemic.
At a city council meeting on Dec. 7, developer Ken Braverman updated councilors on the progress of two housing projects planned to break ground next year. While he presented an optimistic view of the timeline moving forward, he explained how the pandemic forced major changes in their plans.
One change includes the addition of 43 affordable housing units.
âObviously these have been difficult times but weâre here to send a message that weâre incredibly grateful and weâre excited,â Braverman said. ....
