US Army awards EW jamming pod support contract to Lockheed Martin - Digital Battlespace

MFEW-AL is designed for use on Group 4 UAS and other aircraft.
OEM Lockheed Martin is to provide total system support for Multi-Function Electronic Warfare-Air Large (MFEW-AL) EW jamming systems, under a new $7.53 million contract from the US Army.
Work locations and funding will be determined with each order with an estimated completion date of 18 November 2022, the DoD noted in a 21 May announcement.
MFEW-AL is a pod system designed by Lockheed Martin for installation aboard Group 4 UAS and other airborne platforms.
The US Army first installed the MFEW-AL pod on MQ-1C Grey Eagle UAVs in 2019 and it carried out testing and experimentation with the jamming system in 2020. ....

WASHINGTON The Army, primarily a land force, is looking to optimize its forthcoming electronic warfare equipment to operate in the Indo-Pacific theater against maritime targets, according to an Army official.
China is considered the “pacing” threat by the Department of Defense, and thus the Indo-Pacific region is a high priority. Other recent Army efforts to prioritize the heavily maritime region include the creation of a multidomain task force working on exercises in the region and plans to base long-range precision fires there. ....

WASHINGTON The Army has worked furiously to develop new electronic warfare capabilities for the force, rebuilding what it divested after the Cold War. With much attention paid to these new systems, the Army is also building new units across the service that will have to operate these emerging electronic warfare systems.
“We really have to make sure that our capabilities are aligned with the force structure that is being stood up,” Col. Kevin Finch, electronic warfare and cyber program manager with the Program Executive Office Intelligence, Electronic Warfare and Sensors, has explained in the past. ....
