Palatine village officials say they might be able to distribute the first surplus from a tax increment financing district on the north end of town next year, aided by about $1.9 million left on the table when the Hyundai dealership there was bought by AutoCanada.
The Rand/Lake-Cook Corridor TIF District was created in 2012 and covers 110 acres, including the dealership.

So far, the only TIF project within the district was the building of the Hyundai dealership that opened around early 2014. The village paid a total $3,171,000 under an agreement with the original owner, Patrick Dealer Group, Assistant Village Manager Mike Jacobs said. ....

Palatine wants to extend the life of its downtown tax increment financing district to do public improvements and is seeking support from the affected taxing bodies.
TIF district is set to expire at the end of 2022, after a 23-year maximum life span under Illinois law. That can be extended by an additional 12 years with a bill passed by the General Assembly. ....

After a comprehensive application process, the Northwest Community Healthcare Community Health and Outreach Board Committee has selected 19 community agencies to divide a $75,000 gift of support. Awards ranged from $1,750 to $6,750 in support of programs that help increase access to care and promote health and wellness.

New COVID-19 grant program will launch for small businesses in Palatine

The village of Palatine will offer grants of up to $10,000 each in federal money for eligible small, locally owned businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Assistant Village Administrator Mike Jacobs said the new small business grant program is expected to launch Feb. 1. Initially, there will be about $80,000 available, but village officials hope that will increase to $214,000. The money comes from special community development block grant funding under the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

The Palatine grant program will be administered by the nonprofit Center of Concern, based in Des Plaines. It will offer 100% reimbursement for expenses directly related to COVID-19, such as personal protective equipment and workspace modifications like booth dividers. ....
