He has an upper-body injury. Who knows what that means. There wasn’t an obvious moment of trouble on his last shifts.
But if he can’t go on Thursday night for round two vs. the Habs, that’s a big hole to fill.
He’s a key penalty killer and faces up against the opposition’s toughest forwards on a nightly basis.
If he’s out, that means a bigger load for Nate Schmidt and Quinn Hughes to carry. Hughes, in particular, is already carrying a heavy burden: Thursday in Edmonton and Saturday in Calgary he played more than 26 minutes.

Right after the NHL shares good news in the form of low positive testing numbers during training camp, COVID-19 rears its ugly head yet again and in a major way for the Vancouver Canucks. GM Jim Benning announced Tuesday night that forward J.T. Miller and defenseman Jordie Benn will not be available to the Canucks for the start of the new season as they comply with COVID-19 protocols. Benning did not provide a timeline regarding when the pair will re-join the team, but promised more information will be shared soon.

VANCOUVER – The Vancouver Canucks aren’t getting an exhibition game to prepare for the NHL season, but at least they had a COVID day to help them get ready.
With a streamlined practice of 24 players, the Canucks returned to the ice Monday after scheduled workouts on Sunday were abruptly cancelled for what coach Travis Green revealed was a “false positive” test for a player.

Canucks still interested in signing Hamonic in free agency: report

If they can clear cap space, it appears the Vancouver Canucks are in the market for another defenceman.
TSN 1040’s Bob Marjanovich is reporting that the Canucks are interested in Travis Hamonic, the 30-year-old free agent defenceman who played the final three seasons with the Calgary Flames.
“Travis Green is really making a case to management to try to get another defenceman in,” Marjanovich said today during the first hour of Donnie & The Moj. “The guy that I think he would like to see come to Vancouver is Hamonic. Now clearly the team still has cap issues… we’ll see if they can put Ferland on long term IR… I’m hearing that Calgary and Vancouver are in on Hamonic, and whoever can clear enough space the Flames are trying to make room as well probably wind up getting Hamonic on a one-year deal.”
