Le Bonheur, UT Health Sciences participating in pediatric antibody trial

MEMPHIS, Tenn. Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital and the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis are enrolling pediatric volunteers in a clinical trial for a COVID-19 antibody treatment, according to a news release.
The release says volunteers should be children and adolescents up to 18-years-old. The trial will look at how these volunteers respond to Regeneron’s investigational antibody treatment REGEN-COV, the release says.
The treatment has been approved for emergency use, according to the release.

UTHSC researchers awarded $4.5 million to launch new Tennessee Heart Health Network

Memphis, Tenn. (May 17, 2021) - Researchers from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center have received a $4.5 million grant over three years from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) to lead a statewide network of primary care providers, health systems, and academic centers to identify, develop, and implement patient-centered approaches to improve quality of care and outcomes for people with cardiovascular disease. Tennessee is one of only four states in the country chosen by AHRQ to receive this grant and create a statewide heart health network.
The Tennessee Heart Health Network will identify evidence-based interventions to aid primary care providers across the state in treating cardiovascular disease, the main cause of premature morbidity and mortality in the United States.
