The University of Minnesota Department of Public Safety is asking the campus community to be alert after a string of robberies and thefts near campus.
According to an alert sent to students, faculty and staff on Monday, there have been four aggravated robberies, two robberies from persons and four thefts from persons since May 6.
The incidents occurred in the Stadium Village and Dinkytown neighborhoods near campus.
All of the crimes involved cell phones being stolen from university students. ....

MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - The University of Minnesota s Department of Public Safety is warning students of recent robberies and thefts in the Dinkytown and Stadium Village area.
According to officials, there have been four aggravated robberies, two robberies and four thefts since May 6. All of the incidents involved the taking of cell phones from U of M students.

A series of robberies and thefts near the University of Minnesota led public officials to issue a warning to students Tuesday.
On May 9 at about 3 p.m., a robbery was reported at University Avenue Southeast and 14th Avenue. The suspect took the victim’s cell phone and fled in a vehicle. The victim was struck by the fleeing vehicle and sustained minor injuries. The suspect is described as a late-teens or early-20s male with a thin build, wearing a gray t-shirt and black ....

The incident occurred near the intersection of 8th Street Southeast and 15th Avenue Southeast.

An aggravated robbery was reported Sunday evening near the University of Minnesota campus in Dinkytown.
According to a SAFE-U notification from the university, two male suspects assaulted a victim and took her purse near the intersection of 8th Street Southeast and 15th Avenue Southeast at 4:51 p.m.
The suspects got into a gray Nissan sedan and left the scene.
The two suspects were described as wearing dark hoodies, one with the Nike logo.
The incident happened just a few hours after another incident that prompted a SAFE-U alert, which means the school deemed it an active threat to the campus area. ....
