We'll pay Billy's vet bills, says Ballogie couple


Billy has a terminal illness and needs regular visits to the vets for treatment.
Billy the tabby cat went missing in February 2020 and the couple originally offered a reward for his safe return. Now they have added the alternative offer of vet bills assistance if someone can show that they have Billy living with them.
Ian Doyle explained: “Originally we thought Billy may have just wandered and got lost or hopped into a van and been accidentally transported somewhere else, so we offered a reward for his safe return to encourage people to be on the lookout. If he’s still alive, he may have settled into a new home somewhere so we wouldn’t want to disrupt that. ....

Nominations wanted for vote on north-east community councils

Nominations have opened ahead of a number of community councils’ elections across the north-east.
A total of 11 councils in Aberdeenshire are to hold elections in the coming months in order to elect new members.
Nominations are now being sought for those who may wish to put themselves forward.
In a statement, Aberdeenshire Council said: “If you would like to put yourself forward for one of the vacancies, nomination forms, closing dates and further information including other community councils also seeking nominations can be accessed from the council website community council elections – Aberdeenshire Council or from your community council secretary.” ....

Inspirational figures in the north-east have been awarded accolades in the Queen’s New Years Honours list.

One of the recipients is a Banff shopkeeper who was forced to drive as far south as Manchester to stock up on essential supplies for vulnerable people in the early months of the pandemic.
Des Cheyne, who owns the Spotty Bag Shop, said he and his family were “gobsmacked” to find he would be awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) for his role in the north-east town’s Covid response. ....
