Check back every morning for the latest developments. Doctors at the University of Kansas Health System are treating 38 patients for COVID-19. Of those, 25 have active infections, nine of whom are in the intensive care unit and four on ventilators. Thirteen patients are recovering from the virus in the hospital. Huron Valley Schools is seeking support staff in several departments and is hosting a job fair this Friday at Milford High School from 9am until 3pm. District department leaders and staff will be on hand to speak with applicants and answer questions about open positions. HVS Chief Human Resources Officer Rulesha Glover-Payne said in a release, that they have available opportunities in most departments, with the goal of recruiting and retaining a diverse, high-quality staff. Full-time, part-time, and substitute positions are available for guest teachers, paraeducators, custodians, bus drivers, special education, early childhood and food service staff, Recreation and Community Education, and lunch and playground aides. March 15, 2021 By Jon King / jking@whmi.com A rising count of confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 is forcing one local school to return to all-remote learning this week, while superintendents are reminding their communities that mitigation strategies like mask-wearing and social distancing are still important if they want to keep schools fully open, including athletics. In his communication to parents on Friday, Brighton High School Principal Gavin Johnson addressed the issue of students and staff having to be quarantined because of COVID. Johnson noted that the past week was their âbusiest week of the yearâ when it came to quarantines, and while he admitted he did not exactly know why, he did offer some ideas, saying that he was âspeaking honestly and directly with you.
