FLINT – The Charles Stewart Mott Foundation has granted $1 million to the YMCA of Greater Flint to help the organization maintain its services in the community as it deals with significant financial loss caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The two-year grant with $500,000 distributed in 2021 and $500,000 in 2022 will allow the YMCA to continue to serve residents through its downtown Flint and Pierson Road facilities, as well as Camp Copneconic in Mundy Township, while planning for long-term sustainability. ....

Summer camp fun is back

After a very challenging year for so many kids and their families, the YMCA of Greater Flint is excited to announce the return of summer camp fun to YMCA Camp Copneconic in 2021, with registration for day and overnight camps now open.
âUncertainty surrounding the coronavirus pandemic, along with state-mandated stay-at-home orders, caused the 750-acre camp located in Fenton Township to cancel all summer programming in 2020.
ââWe were heartbroken to cancel summer camps last year but knew that it was the best decision for the health and safety of campers, their families and our team members,â said Brandon Dreffs, executive director of YMCA Camp Copenconic. âOur amazing staff has been busy reviewing and implementing new safety protocols designed to keep everyone protected, and we are confident that we can offer a safe, equitable and transformational summer camp program once again.â ....
