State School Board could get rid of blended schedule option in Tuesday meeting

CHARLESTON, W.Va. The state Board of Education has scheduled a special meeting for Tuesday morning to discuss “in-person instruction options.”
The meeting follows Gov. Jim Justice’s new executive order allowing for full-time in-person instruction to resume in the state’s elementary and middle schools.

Justice signed the order back on Friday after announcing all school employees 50 and older who wanted a COVID-19 vaccine had received their second shots.
“From the status of our younger kids now–all the data shows, especially with all of the teachers 50 and above getting their second shots, all the data shows go to school,” Justice said. ....

Cheers to members of the Marion County Board of Education for speaking candidly during their remote meeting with State School Superintendent Clayton Burch regarding the state mandate to return students back to in-person learning while COVID-19 pandemic continues to govern everyday life.
Jeers to West Virginia State School Superintendent Clayton Burch for strong-arming the Marion County Board of Education into adopting the state’s plan to have students return to in-person learning even if the state’s COVID map shows a county is red or orange. Previously, red or orange called for remote learning. Maybe it’s time to wise up and kill the COVID map since it appears to no longer have any sway. ....
