UTICA, N.Y. – Oneida County History Center’s newest exhibit is a tribute to local African Americans and their achievements.
The History Makers exhibit features memorabilia from Oneida County’s first female African-American legislator, Evon Ervin; Utica’s youngest council person, Delvin Moody; and Kevin Byrd, actor and prostate cancer awareness advocate who created the Brown Byrd Foundation.
Byrd recently donated 30 copies of his book “Our Stories, Our Voices: Black Men Speak Their Truth,” which will be sold at OCHC. The proceeds will provide memberships for area families. ....
