MQM-P lashes out at Sindh govt, KE for 'criminal silence' over rain-related death - Newspaper

KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan on Saturday questioned the “criminal silence” and “insensitiveness” of the Sindh government as well as K-Electric on a recent incident in which a young expectant father was electrocuted in a rain-related incident, saying the “pro-Sindhudesh government” was carrying out “economic killing” of the people of Karachi.
“Who is responsible for the death of the man whose child was born orphan within an hour of the electrocution of his father?” said senior MQM-P leader Khawaja Izharul Hasan while speaking at a press conference here at the party’s temporary headquarters in Bahadurabad.
He said that the elected local government system had completed its term on Aug 31, 2020 and unelected administrators had been running the LGs for the past one year and their performance was known to everyone. ....

MQM-P demands governor's rule in Sindh for country's 'solidarity' - Newspaper

KARACHI: Terming the Sindh government a “security risk”, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan on Wednesday demanded that the federal government impose governor’s rule in Sindh for the sake of “solidarity and integrity” of Pakistan.
The demand was made by senior party leader Amir Khan during a press conference held at the MQM-P’s temporary headquarters in Bahadurabad.
The press conference was called following last week’s disclosure of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) that claimed to have unearthed a racket in the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) involved in illegal issuance of “four million fake” computerised national identity cards (CNICs) in Sindh. ....

KARACHI: An unexpected spell of monsoon rain on early Monday morning in Karachi exposed the claims of the federal and provincial governments of addressing the drainage related issues of the megapolis as the light to moderate showers resulted in inundation of low-lying areas, accumulation of water on major roads and power cuts in many areas of the city, turning the worst fears of the city dwellers true.

Unexpected monsoon shower causes agony to citizens with power cuts, inundated roads

An unexpected spell of monsoon rain on early Monday morning in Karachi surprised both the citizens as well as weather pundits as most of the city areas received light to moderate showers, resulting in inundation of low-lying areas, accumulation of water on major roads and power cuts in many areas of the city.
The rain started around 7am in most of the areas on Monday morning. Around three to four millimetres (mm) of rain was recorded in the first spell except for Gulshan-e-Hadeed where 17 mm was recorded. The intermittent rain continued till noon, during which different areas received 20 to 35mm of rainfall, Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) officials said. ....
