APTMA to build textile complex in Uzbekistan

At the 6th meeting of the Uzbek-Pakistani Inter-governmental Commission on Trade-Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation (IGC) in Tashkent, All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Governor of Bukhara, Uzbekistan to build a textile complex in the state.
Spanning 30,000 hectares, the complex will reserve a vast space for cultivating cotton. It will also house spinning, weaving, processing and garment units built at a cost of $100 million.
Gohar Ijaz Ijaz, Leader, APTMA hopes, Pakistan s cotton exports would reach $18 billion by next year. The country recently agreed to finalize a preferential trade agreement (PTA) with Uzbekistan within three months to boost bilateral trade volume. ....

Cotton prices steady amid low trade on holiday schedule

KARACHI: Cotton market trade was low with stable prices during the three-day week, with Friday remaining a partial holiday, traders said.
Some ginning factories started their operations, while a majority of the mills were either closed or partially open, expecting trade to resume from Monday, they said.
Textile and spinning mills need cotton, increasing chances of higher trading activity in the coming days.
Activity is likely to increase in Punjab, while Sindh would face a normal situation, amid expected rains. “If rain is normal, it will benefit the crop, otherwise it can be harmful,” traders said. ....

Uzbekistan and Pakistan recently agreed to finalise a preferential trade agreement (PTA) within three months to boost bilateral trade volume. At the 6th meeting of the Uzbek-Pakistani Inter-governmental Commission on Trade-Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation (IGC) in Tashkent, both sides agreed to form joint working groups on several sectors to boost cooperation.
The meeting was co-chaired by Uzbek deputy prime minister and minister of investments and foreign trade Sardor Umurzakov and Pakistan’s commerce adviser to the prime minister Abdul Razak Dawood.
Both sides agreed that the trans-Afghan corridor connecting the countries would play an important role in enhancing bilateral trade between the two countries, according to Pakistani media reports. ....

On April 28, 2021, Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to the islamic Republic of Pakistan Andrei Metelitsa met with Federal Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Pakistan Noor Ahmed.
The interlocutors reviewed the results of bilateral events that took place in March-April this year, including the fourth meeting of the Business Council and the visit of Pakistani business delegation to Belarus.
During the meeting special attention was focused on the preparation of the sixth Session of the Joint Belarusian-Pakistani Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation.
