The Sindh High Court has sought a reply from the federal government on what it will be doing about Sindh s islands now that its islands ordinance has expired.
The September 2, Pakistan Island Development Authority Ordinance 2020 expired on January 3, according to the assistant attorney general.
Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar heard the case on the control of Sindh’s islands on Friday. ....

ISLAMABAD: A ruling party’s senator shamed the opposition for the hue and cry over ‘rule through ordinances’, saying the PPP government led by Benazir Bhutto promulgated as many as 357 ordinances in three years from Oct 1996 to Nov 1996.
Senator Waleed Iqbal, while taking part in a discussion on the issue in the lower house, said Senator Mian Raza Rabbani, who was now raising questions over constitutional power of the president, was law minister at that time.
He said 26 ordinances had been promulgated each year on average during the 10-year rule of the Pakistan People Party and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz. On the other hand, the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government had promulgated less than 20 ordinances per year. ....

ISLAMABAD: The treasury and the opposition in the Senate on Monday were poles apart on the issue of Sindh and Balochistan islands’ going into control of the Centre, as the former defended the move as constitutional while the later termed it a bid towards one unit.
Personal attacks and insinuations marred the proceedings, as the house resumed after a two-day break with Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani in the chair. The house had a discussion on the opposition’s motion on the alarming propensity of the federal government to usurp and subvert parliamentary and provincial rights guaranteed in the Constitution by attempting to rule the country by ordinances, especially the current case of attempted illegal land grab of Sindh and Balochistan’s islands as well as resources. ....
