The Senate Standing Committee on Information Technology directed creating awareness among parents regarding the social media use, saying that it was not for the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to block sites, the Media Directorate of the Senate Secretariat said in a statement on Monday.
The committee, which met with its chairperson Rubina Khalid in the chair, discussed the issues of public importance raised in the house by Senator Atiq Sheikh and by Munir Ahmed Khan. The issue of ban on social media also came under detailed discussion. ....

PTCL Supports Islamabad Traffic Police Frontline Officers
Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL), as part of its coronavirus support program, has handed over face masks and hand-sanitizers for the Islamabad Traffic Police frontline officers during a ceremony held at the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Security Office in Islamabad.
The ceremony was attended by Group Chief Marketing Officer, PTCL & Ufone, DIG Security Division, Islamabad Police, along with officials from both organizations. DIG Security, Islamabad, was presented with face masks and hand-sanitizers by the PTCL representatives, to acknowledge the efforts of courageous Traffic Police frontline officers.

PESHAWAR: Ziaur Rehman, a serving Provincial Management Service (PMS) officer and younger brother of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, appeared before the National Accountability Bureau on Tuesday in connection with an inquiry into his induction in the provincial bureaucracy around a decade ago.
The NAB claims to have learned that Mr Rehman, a former commissioner of Afghan Commissionerate, was illegally absorbed in the PMS cadre in 2007 against the prescribed rules during the then Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal government led by chief minister Akram Khan Durrani of the JUI-F. ....
