For his entire life Baltimore’s own Joey Harkum has been strumming a guitar and after a decade of touring as the lead singer and songwriter of Baltimore-based band Pasadena, he released his debut solo album, Love and Labor to critical acclaim in 2016. Known for his deep and poignant lyrics telling stories of joy, love, loss and sadness, Joey brings the human experience to life through his relentless tour schedule that culminated in the release of Live at Buffalo Iron Works in 2018. 2020 brought new challenges but Joey has responded with writing and recording new music and has released his brand new full band album “Storyboard” in March of 2021. ....

Penn State parties with Kesha during SPA virtual concert


Kesha said, “The party don’t start ‘til I walk in,” so naturally, the party didn’t start until she brought her energy to the stage for a SPA-hosted virtual concert Friday night.
Coming out of the gates singing “Your Love is My Drug,” Kesha expressed how much she missed performing live for her fans.
“We all know this past year has sucked ass, more ass than any year I’ve ever lived through,” Kesha said.
After performing “We R Who We R,” Kesha reminded her fans to “be [themselves] unapologetically, f -ing always.”
Kesha sang “Raising Hell,” which she said she recorded with the artist Big Freedia after going on a cruise and twerking together, followed by “Shadow,” a song off of her latest album “High Road.” She said the song was inspired by her mother’s comment about her profanity in her lyrics. ....

Ave Maria.  It was one my mom’s favorites; it will always remind me of her.
One of my fondest memories is when she was in the hospital after she fell and broke her hip.  After multiple surgeries, she ended up on a respirator for about a week. She began to regain her consciousness and was moved out of ICU.  My brother Tony and I followed her into her new room.
Once her nurses left the room, Tony started to sing
Ave Maria to Mom. As his tender, yet powerful voice reached the notes as only he could do, tears trickled down my face as mom acknowledged his presence.   ....

Roger Miller, one of music s greatest songwriters and performers, who grew up in Oklahoma.
Ask any typical music lover to name Oklahoma s greatest musicians, and some of the most revered names in music are sure to come up on their short list.
The usual suspects come to mind, some of whom are even known well enough to be identified by their first names only, including Woody, Reba, Garth and Leon.
One name that s not mentioned as often when the Oklahoma connection comes up is Roger Miller, even though he grew up in the Sooner state. Miller was born in Forth Worth, Texas, but by the age of 3 he was living in Erick, Oklahoma. ....
