Updated 7/6/2021 7:53 PM The village of Barrington has a plan in place to quickly apply for any funding that becomes available to replace lead pipes, also called service lines, in town. The lead service line replacement project plan outlines the location of lead pipes, the environmental impacts of replacement and possible loan repayment mechanisms. The plan was done by the consulting company Engineering Enterprises Inc. The village held a public hearing June 28 about it and received no comment from members of the public.

The downtown festival that traditionally takes place over Memorial Day weekend was postponed in May 2020, with a smaller art walk held in September 2020. This year, the festival will be back with more than 110 juried artists who specialize in ceramics, fiber, glass, jewelry, painting, sculpture and more.

The theme of the Jan. 23 event will be What Now? Looking Ahead to the Post-Pandemic World. Another keynote speaker will be William M. Daley, former U.S. Secretary of Commerce.

Updated 12/15/2020 7:52 PM The Barrington village board on Monday adopted the town s 2021 budget, which accounts for a decrease in expenses and fewer workers, but no changes in services to residents. The new budget calls for $36.6 million in expenses compared to $38 million budgeted this year including $6.9 million in capital costs. Some of those are funded by reserves set aside for that purpose, Village Manager Scott Anderson said during a public hearing Monday night.
