Tributes paid to popular Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw volunteer

Tributes have been paid to a dedicated charity volunteer who “made a huge difference” to the lives of hospice patients and their families.
Howard Dobie, 69, was a volunteer at Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw Children’s Hospice and had dedicated a “tremendous amount of hours.”
Mr Dobie supported the retail and housekeeping teams, originally helping in the charity’s furniture shop in Carlisle before moving to laundry.
He passed away on January 14 at the Cumberland Infirmary.
A tribute has been released on behalf of the two hospices that Mr Dobie had given so many hours of his time to.
Patricia Livsey, chief executive at Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, said: “The thoughts of everybody at Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw are with Howard’s family at this time. ....

'Massive thank you' to Charles from EVH and Jigsaw

A HOSPICE has been overwhelmed by the efforts of an 85-year-old man who raised £12,000.
Charles Hanson, of Wetheral, set about walking 86 miles before his 86th birthday on December 29 in aid of Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria s Children s Hospice.
But he completed the distance - walking about a mile and a half every day - well ahead of schedule and handed over the money earlier this week.
EVH and Jigsaw s chief executive Patricia Livsey said it was an amazing achievement .
Charles s donation provided a much-needed boost at a time when charitable fundraising has been devastated by the impact of the pandemic. ....

A BRAND new Christmas song is hoping to drum up some much-needed support for the vital work carried out by north Cumbria s hospice.
Bubble Baby is an original track by local band The Flookes, and is now available for streaming and download, with all proceeds going to Eden Valley Hospice.
Ian Marshall, the band s vocalist, also works part-time at the hospice, and said he has seen first-hand the remarkable efforts from all those who have worked under such trying conditions this year. ....
