It can take up to nine months to replace a council roads worker, a county councillor has claimed.
Cllr Aisling Moran made the claim at the Portarlington Graiguecullen Municipal District where it was confirmed that the outdoor team for the area has lost two people temporarily.
One staff member has taken a year’s leave while another is out until October.
Philip McVeigh, Senior Engineer, said an application to replace one of the staff had been submitted.

The NSV will use the latest survey techniques to assess distresses on the road surface and help in enhancing the quality of the highways.
In an effort to provide better roads to commuters, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has decided to deploy network survey vehicle (NSV) to supervise and help maintain the quality of National Highways.
Carrying out a road condition survey using NSV on the National Highways has been made mandatory at the time of certifying completion of the project and every six months thereafter. The provision has also been included as a part of the standard bidding document of consultancy services. ....

City Of Pittsburgh Announces Spring 2021 Pothole Blitz

The City of Pittsburgh Department of Public Works is kicking off the Spring 2021 Pothole Blitz this week.
Crews will be working 12 hour shifts starting Wednesday, April 14th, through Friday, April 16th, and may extend the work into Saturday if needed.
The work will be weather permitting, and residents can report any potholes that need filled a few different ways.
