LOS ANGELES (KABC) A pedestrian died after being struck by a Metrolink train Tuesday morning in the San Fernando Valley, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.
The collision occurred about 6:45 a.m. in the 7400 block of North Coldwater Canyon Avenue, the LAFD said. Metrolink train 102 on the Ventura County Line was heading to Los Angeles when it hit the victim, and it was stopped in the area, according to Metrolink.
The pedestrian s identity was not immediately disclosed.
Coldwater Canyon Avenue was closed in both directions at Raymer Street as a result of the incident. ....

Man hit by car near Dimond Center has died, Anchorage police say

A pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle earlier this month near the Dimond Center died Saturday, the Anchorage Police Department said Tuesday.
The man was on foot on the southwest corner of the intersection at Old Seward Highway and Dimond Boulevard on March 5 when he was hit by an Audi sedan at 12:27 p.m., police spokeswoman Renee Oistad said by email.
The man was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and Oistad said he was still hospitalized when he died.
The driver stayed on scene after striking the pedestrian, Oistad said. No citations or charges had been filed by Tuesday. ....

County Board to Consider Changes to Busy Lyon Park Intersection

(Updated at 11 a.m.) The Arlington County Board is set vote this Saturday, March 20 on a nearly $1 million project to improve the intersection at N. Pershing Drive and Washington Blvd.
The busy intersection in Lyon Park lacks accessible curb ramps and has narrow sidewalks, long crossings and outdated bus stops, per the county manager’s report, creating a harrowing experience for many pedestrians and cyclists.
Concerns about the intersection were first brought up in May 2018. Four other nearby intersections along N. Pershing Drive were approved for “Complete Streets” pedestrian safety upgrades last year.
The requested $987,270 for the newest project will improve safety and accessibility at the Pershing and Washington intersection by expanding sidewalks and updating curb ramps to better comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act, the county says. It also shortens crossings. ....

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – A Good Samaritan risked his life to save a stranger’s.
RJ was critically injured in a crash when he stopped Tuesday to help two women on the side of Northwestern Highway.
ORIGINAL STORY:
“I saw him laying there, legs broken, a lot of pain,” said his fiancée, Tiara Kendrick.
Kendrick had rushed from work and found RJ lying on the shoulder of Northwestern Highway.
“He’s been telling everyone he was just trying to help,” Kendrick recalled. “If he had know what would happen, I may have done things differently. He’s a very good person. This is definitely breaking his spirit.” ....
