County Board to Review Rosslyn Residential Development That Preserves Church and Gas Station

The proposal from Arlington-based Snell Properties would replace the Ames Center office building across from the Rosslyn Metro station. A south tower will abut the Hyatt Centric hotel and a north tower will surround the existing Arlington Temple United Methodist Church and Sunoco gas station, dubbed “Our Lady of Exxon.”
Although the church and gas station will be “redeveloped in place,” the skywalks which provide an elevated pedestrian connection to the Metro station will be demolished, according to the County.
Along with plans for the Holiday Inn and the RCA building, the proposal from Snell will further change Rosslyn’s skyline, demolishing the existing building, formerly occupied by the Art Institute of Washington. ....

HOPKINS COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) - A pedestrian was killed in a crash, hit by a Cumby Police SUV, Wednesday.
Justice of the Peace B.J. Teer was called for the inquest. Teer said the pedestrian’s truck broke down on the interstate. The officer was responding to see if traffic control was needed when the man stepped out in front of the police unit.
The crash occurred at approximately 12:32 a.m. on the south service road of IH-30 about five miles east of Cumby. ....

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) â The Tallahassee Police Department is currently investigating a traffic crash involving a pedestrian in the 2700 block of North Monroe Street.
The pedestrian has been taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
At this time southbound lanes on N. Monroe St. between Lakeshore Dr. and Calloway Road are closed.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area.
This is an on-going investigation. More information will be provided as it becomes available.

NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio (WOIO) - A North Olmsted man was seriously injured after he was struck head-on by a hit and run driver.
North Olmsted police said around 6:40 p.m. Sunday, a car hit a telephone pole on Clague Road.
Susan Babiasz and her fiancé were watching tv in bed that night when they heard the loud crash.
“My fiancé said, ‘Oh my God somebody hit the pole again!’ He said, ‘I’m gonna run down and make sure everybody’s okay, you call 911,’” recalled Babiasz. ....
