ATHENS, Texas (KLTV) - On Monday, a pedestrian was struck and died in the 400 block of South Palestine Street, (State Highway 19).
At approximately 7:20 p.m., a 911 call was received advising a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle.
According to witness statements and evidence collected at the scene, investigators determined that a 2009 Ford SUV was traveling southbound in the 400 block of South Palestine Street, in the center left-turn lane, attempting to turn left into a private drive. A pedestrian, later identified as Teresa A. Fawcette, 60, of Athens, was attempting to cross the roadway when struck by the vehicle. She died at the scene as a result of her injuries. The driver of the vehicle was not injured. ....
