SLO County sheriff searches for man who allegedly trafficked missing Nevada teen

Feb. 4 After the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff s Office caught and released a man suspected of trafficking a missing 15-year-old Nevada girl, the agency says it is now obtaining a warrant for his arrest.
According to a news release Thursday, investigators from the San Luis Obispo County Counter Human Trafficking Team were answering online sex ads as part of the statewide effort to curb human sex trafficking under the umbrella of Operation Reclaim and Rebuild.
According to the release, detectives answered an ad featuring a girl who appeared to be under the age of 18. ....

Dow postpones public questions on LGBTQ-plus rights

On Jan. 19, Gala Pride and Diversity Center was set to have its routine board meeting with an agenda item that included a question-and-answer segment with SLO County District Attorney Dan Dow intended to openly address their concerns regarding his appearance on certain radio shows and his comments on the topic of religion.

COVID-19 increases challenges for domestic violence victims

Stand Strong recently put out an urgent call for donations to provide services to its significantly growing client base impacted during COVID-19 pandemic.
The local advocacy and resource group for those experiencing domestic violence released an impact report in November that tallied the number of individuals it helped from July 2019 to June 2020. The organization provided support services to 939 SLO County survivors of domestic violence and child abuse. Stand Strong served 870 clients during the same period from 2018-19.
