New rights for victims of crime across Merseyside

Victims code
NEW rights for victims of crime in Wirral and Merseyside are being introduced today after a review.
The Code of Practice for Victims of Crime - which sets out the services and standards that must be provided to victims by the police and other criminal justice agencies - has been updated.
More commonly know as the Victims Code, it is Published by the Ministry of Justice and applicable from the minute a crime is reported to the end of a trial in court.
Chief Superintendent Ngaire Waine, head of criminal justice at Merseyside Police said: Supporting victims is incredibly important and we are pleased that the code now simplifies and strengthens the previous entitlements with rights that are clear, concise and easy to understand. ....

Views of community groups wanted for Victim Experience consultation
COMMUNITY organisations that may help victims of crime in Wirral are being urged to have their say on support currently available in a bid to help improve services.
The views shared in Merseyside Police Commissioner Jane Kennedy s Victim Experience consultation will be used to consider how care and support should be delivered from 2022-2026, in preparation for a new PCC being elected in May who will carry the work forward.
Ms Kennedy said: Victims of crime deserve to have access to the best support services, to feel involved in the criminal justice process, to be kept up-to-date on their cases and treated with dignity and respect at all time. ....

Wirral crime victims urged to help to shape future support services
VICTIMS of crime in Wirral are being urged to share experiences of the support they received in order to help others.
As part of Merseyside Victim Experience Survey, Police Commissioner Jane Kennedy is asking anyone affected by crime in the last three years to share their views in order to help shape and improve the support services that are provided in the future.
The commissioner is responsible for commissioning many local support services for victims of crime and these are promoted and organised through the Victim Care Merseyside service. Over the last year, more than 6,000 victims have been supported by those services. ....
