Scores have welcomed the arrest of a 15-year old Grade 10 pupil from Mbilwi Secondary School in the Vhembe east education district in Limpopo, over the assault of fellow pupil Lufuno Mavhunga.
Mavhunga, also in Grade 10, allegedly committed suicide earlier this week after a video of her being confronted by two schoolgirls went viral on social media. The video shows one of the girls slapping her countless times across the face while pupils cheered the alleged perpetrator. ....

A Tennessee woman says she was raped by a man but the charges against him were dropped because he claimed he thought she was someone else .
Amy Dewland told Fox 17 News that the District Attorney s Office in Davidson Country chose not to prosecute the man because they said they could not prove he knowingly assaulted her .
The decision is just as bad as the actual rape, that s what it feels like, Dewland told the news station. ....

Shooting at Tennessee High School leaves one dead, officer injured


UPDATE: APRIL 12 AT 6:10 P.M.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - At approximately 3:15 p.m. Monday, the Knoxville Police Department (KPD) received report of an individual possibly armed with a gun at Austin-East Magnet High School.
In a tweet from KPD, they said officers responded to the scene and located the individual inside a school restroom.
Officers reportedly ordered the individual out of the restroom, but the individual refused to comply. KPD said officers entered the restroom and were met with gunfire. The subject, reportedly, fired shots, striking an officer. One officer returned fire, according to KPD.
The individual was pronounced dead at the scene, and has been identified as a student, according to KPD. ....

JUNEAU Domestic violence shelters across Alaska are facing an unexpected budget shortfall, and many could be forced to close, officials warned the Alaska Legislature.
In impassioned testimony to the House Finance Committee last week, groups that aid domestic violence victims requested $6 million to fix a problem caused by a lack of federal funding.
