SGA kicks off Safe Night Out initiative at Two Docs

The Texas Tech Student Government Association kicked off its Safe Night Out initiative at 12:30 p.m. on April 26 at Two Docs Brewing Co. by hosting a conversation with staff members regarding sexual assault at bars. The event was live-streamed on the SGA Instagram page (@ttu sga).
Members from SGA, Risk Intervention & Safety Education (RISE) and staff from Two Docs started the commencement by sharing what the staff hopes to learn and explaining the Safe Night Out initiative.
Eric Washington, Two Docs manager, said it will be useful for the staff to learn intervention techniques and how to properly respond to sexual assault incidents. ....

Student Government Association launches initiative against sexual assault

To help prevent sexual assault from occurring to Texas Tech students, as well as Lubbockites in general, the Student Government Association launched an initiative called the Safe Night Out initiative with hopes to help better assist people against threats of an assault.
The goal of the Safe Night Out initiative, previously known as the Safe Bar initiative, is to train bouncers and barkeeps to become more aware and proactive towards signs of sexual assaults in popular bars around Lubbock. Ryleigh Carson, SGAâs Chief of Staff and a member of the initiative, said this training is more aimed at the proactive response to prevent harassment or signs that might led to an assault. ....
